They're very close at stock speeds, but I'd get the X1800 GTO if you're into overclocking.

Don't know if you're willing to invest a little bit more in the short term, but Newegg has a few 7900 GS's that are around $150 or less, after rebate.

For instance, MSI for $179 and $25 rebate

eVGA for $176 and $20 rebate

XFX for $185 and $40 rebate

XFX Extreme for $190 and $30 rebate

7900GS outperforms the 7600GT and X1800GTO by the VGA charts linked to above, so if you're willing to part with some money temporarily(not sure of the time for rebate to come back) you could get a better performing card imho.

Edit: That deal on the X1950 is great; I'd probably hit that myself. How long do you intend to wait for a DX10 card?

I'd spend the extra 36 bucks over your budget to get the Diamond X1950Pro for $186 (includes shipping) at Newegg after MIR.

If you budget is capped off at $150, go with the the 7900GS for $150.65 (with shipping). I'm sure 65 cents would be considered within budget. ;-)

I wouldn't mind buying the Radeon 1950PRO if it's a better card than the 7600GT, 7900GS and X1800GTO...
But how long should I be okay with that card??? I don't want to have to upgrade in 3 months... I want it to last for atleast 9 - 12 months... next holidays is my goal...
How much better is the 1950PRO versus the other cards??? I tried reading those graphics but the 1950PRo isnt there I dont think...

How long will it be until I have to get a better video card If I get the Radeon X1950PRO... can I last a year....?

At least a year, probably two and maybe even more than that.

Hey, hold on there.... As long as we're over budget.... for $200 you could get the X1900XT... much much better....

I'll second that. The X1900 XT rocks.

I never used to like getting into the whole, "If you can spend XX amount, you should spend XY amount since it's only X above your budget", but in this thread, I think I agree with the masses.

You could definitely snag yourself a nice X1900XT in the $200 range and those are VERY hefty competitors. You want a card to last until DX10 comes out? How about a card that'll let you play on high settings with any game that comes out until a LOT of DX10 cards are out for you to upgrade from.

X1900XT is what most people would consider, "the win" for that price budget.

If you're incredibly intent on only spending 150 though, the X1950 Pro will last a long time.

Link please? Is it the 256 or 512?

Can anyone supply me with a link to the X1900XT I can't seem to find it...

I just ordered a xfx7900gs 585m. It was $149 for a re-con from newegg. Came with all the connectors though so hard to pass up. Hopefully it will be able to hold me over until some DX10 mid-range cards come out.
