My Dad's work will get him a new workstation, and he asked me to spec it out for him. I know he works on a lot of Cad/Cam software, such as Catia, and Virtual Gibbs. I don't have much knowledge in Cad/3d workstations.

I'm assuming the video card would be a firgl on the nvidia equivalent.

Not sure really about the motherboard either...would a p5b be fine?

I'm thinking an e6600 2G ram.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

to be honest I have no idea how much they are willing to spend. I'd appreciate if you could suggest maybe a few different video cards, as that is probably where most of the price difference would occur. I'll assume anywhere from 2-4K.

Thanks.
