So I've already bought the evga 7950GT-256MB new. Got a pretty good price on it (like US$180 or so). But now I have an option of getting the MSI 7900GTO for about $250. This is practically a GTX from what I read. One issue tho is that it doesn't have HDCP.

My questions for u experts is should I go thru hassle of selling the gt & get the gto instead? My system is P4-3.2, 2GB. Playing BF2142 and HL2 mostly. Closest matches on VGA charts show maybe 15-20% better perfromance with gto.

Ur opinions? Right now this is gonna be a hard decision for me! Thanks!! :)

Personaly, I wouldn't. Maybe if the GTO is 512mb. Yet not many games take advantage of it and we're slowly moving into DX10 territory.

You actually found a GTO? if it's used I wouldn't go for it. Even if it is new I wouldn't go for it. I don't think the GTO is worth it because that money could be spent elsewhere better.

Thanks so far, everyone! Yes the GTO is new, and 512MB. My worry is that the 7950 won't "max out" my cpu, especially if I OC my CPU to say 3.6.

If it maxes out just run it at a higher resolution, simple. If your monitor can't support a higher resolution well then I hope it doesn't max it out either. Either way it shouldn't be too much of a concern.

heres a better choice maynn...get a 7900gtx on ebay 300 bucks..per awesomeness

Ew. You can get a brand new X1900 XT for $200 on newegg that will stand toe-to-toe with a used 7900 GTX that costs $100 more.

But as far as the poster, keep your 7950 GT. It's a fine card, especially for what you paid, and it's not worth it to go to a 7900 GTO from there...

Ok thanks to all for your input. I actually thot it would go the other way, but it's unanimous for the 7950, so what choice do I have?!
