I am just getting into OCing, and I am confused to hell with the numbers... I just bought a 6400, a Asus 650i p5n-e, 1G of OCZ6400 Platinum... i followed the sticky on top of this board, and setted up my MoBo with the recommended settings... heres where I am stuck and confused...

My p5e reports FSB of CPU and Memory as 1066 / 800 Stock

Following the intruction to reach 1:1 ratio, I used the auto overclock cetting on the board and raised my CPU to 1333, this automattically setted the Memory to 1333 too... this does not boot up. Timing is 5-5-5-15.

I then preceeded to find a lower FSB for my memory, and I ended up at 888. I fired up CPU-Z to find that my ratio is now 3:4. From what I gather, this means I am wasting FSB on my memory. Timing is 5-5-5-15.

I then preceeded to 666 FSB for my memory, and CPU-Z reports it as 1:1 ratio. Delighted that I underclocked my memory, I setted the timings to 4-4-4-12.

My confusion lies here, which of my settings is right? Am I suppose to underclock my memory? If so, why did I pay extra for 6400 when I could have bought 5200... please enlighten a newb! Thanks!

A little help anyone? I just setted my CPU FSB to 1550, and RAM to 775, this also gave me a 1:1 ratio, idle temp is at 30 C, and loaded temp is at 42 C... is that all right?
