So I got an interview for a job in Sydney this coming Thursday. As it is, this will be the first time being interviewed for a job that requires relocation.
So, what exactly am I allowed to negotiate for in such a deal? Things I am allowed to request and things I'm not allowed to request?
For instance, being engaged: is that enough to secure that my fiance comes along or do they require us being married?
If anything I'd like everything (me and the company) to have some common ground during negotiation, but I also do not wish to short sell myself and end up loosing to perks I'm entitled to.
Negotiation? That's an interesting way of looking at it, though a defeatist one if you ask me. If you are prepared to negotiate, then in your own mind you have already conceded defeat.
To me an interview is not a negotiation, it's a sale. You are selling yourself.
There will me other products on the market, but none will be you!
Put together the package you need as a bare minimum and use that as a starting point for your product. If you need to take your bird, then them not paying isn't an option.
If this is your companies first overseas post then they will be as new to this as you are. If not, why the fcuk are you asking us and not contacting the cnuts who are already abroad?
Just a few thoughts to help you along and I wish you the best of luck too.

Make sure you spell check anything you give them, so you don't risk losing the position to someone whose spelling isn't as loose.

Edit for starring.
Well, let me first correct the ambiguous opening from me. I used to work for an American company before my current one. I applied to this American company earlier this year again and they contacted me out of the blue with a post in Sydney. So this is were I am at now.
I agree with you that negotiation isn't the best course, and I should sell myself to them. My humble nature just allows for me not to go in overly greedy. But kudos for reminding me of the fact that I need to put forth my minimum requirement.
So basically I'm just probing what a company will expect me to ask vs what i need and how close or far off the two notions are of each other.
I'm obviously looking for relocation perks a lot. To the effect of selling everything this side and then getting a fixed amount for getting most back on that side. Sending stuff across just isn't viable except for materialistic items.

Grammar check too!
LOL. I will make use of you for a reference.
List your references:
Name: JeFF
Position: Grammar police CEO
Description: He are a inspirational factor in my life to strive for speling supremacy.
Location: USA when Wingding is at home
But honestly: can Australia be taken seriously for grammar and spelling?
Secundus: Is it wise to work for an American company right now?
Maybe contact a recruitment agency and ask about positions in Convict land. Then see what kind of assistance they offer, it'll at least get you a feel for what is offered as standard and what is just wishful thinking.
Well Tom, they did EXACTLY what was expected of them. They lost 0-2. Spectacular stuff indeed - CB thinks he is a striker. I only stopped drinking yesterday 10am after starting just when the game finished on Saturday. I'm still out of sorts today...
