No, not the UFO kind - Area 51 is quite plainly a site for the development of tech that is beyond what we can even think of now. That alone allows some idiots to think that UFO's exist because they don't fully comprehend or make sense of the tech being used that they see now and again when they contribute to fcuk all in life by sitting next to Groom looking for something.
After watching a program this weekend around Area 51 and the secrecy around it I couldn't help but revisit some old classic stealth planes that were developed and tested at the Area 51 site. U2, Blackbird and Have Blue.
One thing I couldn't help but be beyond amazed by was the time frame these planes came out. I mean the F117 first flew in 1977 at Groom. And it's not that I didn't know this, but the further you go from that era the more fundamental the achievement becomes. Take it into consideration now in 2008 and you can gauge how far ahead they were with that plane in 1977. Especially considering the complex computing power required to keep that baby up.
Moving on, we got the F22 Raptor that we know of. But what is the future of ATF, stealth and what will replace the B2? Will they look into something to better the SR71 in terms of reconnaissance at speed above satellite (ultimate stealth with time delay)? If they could make something so intricate in the 60's and 70's, can you just imagine what they are up to now?
And lastly; anyone care to comment on the Groom exception? Is it right that toxic/lethal substance used for top security tech gets exempt from public knowledge for the sake of national security?
UFO's clearly do exist, there are numerous report of Unidentified Flying Objects. This does not mean however that they are piloted by little green men, just exactly what the name describes, that they are unidentified. Military research is as likely an explination of some of these as anything else.
Why are you not seeing even better planes now? Limits of the human body. Unmaned drones are where the big developments seem to be happening nowadays.
Yeah, big push to networked UAV's that arre either armed or warheads themselves. . .
But, it's also scarry what people can think of to do with existing technology--like take a B-1B, give it the engines from an F-22, strap on a hell of a lot of AIM 120C's and call it a B-1R.

Turp, can you zoom in and enhance the reflection in the eyes? I think I can see AV in there.
Tom,
At your request, I ran the photo through some enhancment software. Given your attention to detail, it was no suprise when I found that you were correct, and that AV is reflected in the hamsters eye.
I lifted that image from Strangests extensive collection.
This in spite of AVs attempt to lay it off on SS. Although the image is distorted by the curve of the hamsters eye, there is no mistaking that it is AV.
What did suprise me, and what I did not expect to find was the second reflection in the hamsters eye. All I can say is that I am shocked to see who was standing next to AV, and who turned out to be the actual photographer. Given this new evidence indicative of AVs personal relation preferences, Im afraid I may have to re-examine my previously high opinion of him.
This is the results of the softwares initial enhancement.
