The computer that I have is:

AMD 3700+ San Diego
ASUS 939 MotherBoard A85NX
(2 X 512) Corsair XMS DDR 400
EVGA 7950GT KO
Cheap 500W Power Supply

I am looking to improve my computer's performance, and I don't think I am ready to shell out the money for a Core 2 Duo (About $450 for CPU, MOBO, and Memory).

I was wondering if adding another 1 GIG (2x512MB) of Corsair XMS DDR 400 would add a noticeable performance difference.

The games I play right now are Titan Quest, X3, and Oblivion.

Does anyone know if this would be a worthwhile upgrade?

Most certainly. More and more games these days are using more than 1 gig of RAM. 2 gigs should be standard for any PC gamer. Unless your game is Minesweeper, of course. :p

I'm almost certain Oblivion would benefit. BF2 was the game that convinced me to upgrade from 1 to 2 GB... so I already had 2 GB by the time Oblivion dropped. However, that was around 18 months ago. You need to keep in mind that your next system won't utilize DDR and the expense you incur now will be a sunk cost . Will it help games? Most of them, yes. Is it worth it at this point in your system's life? Maybe... maybe not.
