More about could check parts
  1. Are you looking for this to be a gaming machine or for something else.

If for gaming, I'd save some money over that ASUS P5B Deluxe and get the P5B-E instead. There's also the Gigabyte GA-865P-DS3 for a lot less money.

I would then take the money saved on the motherboard and put in into getting a better video card. Either a 7900GT or X1950Pro, whichever is cheaper.

For the PSU, I'd try and get Antec's NeoHE 550W. You'll save some money in electric bills. And it's better to boot.

I'd get a 1GB stick of memory instead of 2x512MB and then when you save up more money, get another 1GB stick of memory to go dual-channel. 2GB is almost the standard now-a-days.
  2. im not a gamer.

But i just want a nice new pc that will last a whilst. I do burn and rip a lot of dvds so what do i need. I also use my pc pretty much all the time, i run a lot of applications like messengers, media players etc

I dont need to spend a lot on a graphics card. But i dont know what the graphics cards are like these days, ive a got ati radeon 9600 pro thats comming to the end of its days and i just want something new. I dont want a shit graphics card, something that can handle games ok. i dont need super high shit.

yeh the ram i really wasn't sure on :S I guess i could cut back on the graphics card and motherboard go for 2gb dual channel?

i really was set on getting a fanless mobo though ;p
  3. bump :)
