I just got my new computer up and running and now are installing drivers and software. Now keep in mind this is the first time I have ever custom built one myself. But anyway, do I install all the drivers and utilities thats on the CDs that came with the hard ware? I am looking at the drivers from the CD that came with my motherboard, heres the list of drivers...

"Nvidia Chipset Driver Program

Make Nvidia RAID Driver disk

Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet Driver

Realtek AL C850 Driver

Silicon Image RAID Driver

Make Silicon SATA/RAID Driver Disk

AMB Cool'n'Quiet Driver

USB 2.0 Driver"

Do I install all of them, and also everything thats on the utilities list?

Definitely install the chipset, ethernet, & realtek drivers. The USB 2 is supported in windows so you shouldnt need it unless you aren't running xp sp2. The Cool'n'Quiet driver can cause issues & unless you still have missing devices after installing all the hardware you shouldn't need the raid driver.

Once you've got the internet up & running go to AMD & NVidia's sites & download the most recent drivers for all your components. Also get the latest drivers for any other hardware you've got installed.

BTW, that "Make Nvidia RAID Driver disk" is for creating a floppy for use with Windows setup (you know that part where it says something like "if you are using a 3rd-party RAID or SCSI driver, press F5 now"?). This is because Windows XP Setup doesn't know how to deal with your RAID controller so you have to load a driver just to get the setup up and running properly.

Of course, you will not have to worry about this if you don't ever create a RAID array. I just wanted to give you some info on it. :D
