Device Manager

Tried this back on the 18th and received no replies, so am able to stump the
experts. So, thought I would try it again.

I have a Win2k, SP4 PC that will not recoginize a Seagate STT20000A TBU. In
Device Manager, I can do an update and the TBU shows up, but will not show up
on boot. The TBU shows up in the bios and in several places in the
registry. Have uninstalled and let Win2K update the Device Manager. When I
do that, the TBU shows up in the Device Manager, but upon rebooting the TBU
is gone. Have recently had to rebuild the PC and all works fine except for
this anamoly. The TBU works fine if it is in Device Manager and worked fine
until the HD failed and I had to replace it and reinstall the OS. Can anyone
offer assistance to help me fix the problem so that the TBU stays in Device
Manager without having to "scan for new divice" everytime I boot the PC?
Need to to backup daily, but backup does not find TBU unless it shows in
Device Manager.

TIA for assistance,
Roger
