Hey Y'all, just kinda browsing through newegg to help some people out with their builds, and I was astonished to see that G.Skill now offers ram that run at 4-4-3-5 800mhz with only 2-2.1 volts. They have to be pretty damn binned to achieve that with only 2 volts. Any thoughts? Should offer pretty good results, brand new, so no worthwhile reviews I've seen yet
big difference. Corsair runs at 4-4-4-12, there's a big difference between that and 4-4-3-5. Takes a far more binned IC to run 4-4-3-5 with only 2 volts (corsair got promos IC to run 4-4-4-12 with 2.1 volts with their dominator)
Ohh, you think I need help, no, I already have some super talent 4-4-3-8 memory that I'm in love with, just wanted to show something I thought was a good deal
well, see they do offer veyr cheap ram with heatspreaders, kinda like ocz, but since it is run by gamers, they also offer high quality ram (like their 4-4-4-5 1000 ram, the higher binned version of this). I think this ram should turn out pretty good, if not, just run it 1:1 with those timings and your set that way too with a high ht/fsb

I love my 10yr anniversary crucial DDR2 memory! that stuff was only sold in limited quantities so im glad that I bought 4gigs of it. It was only $219 for 2 gigs when I bought it from the Egg.
Specs were ddr2 667mhz 3 3 3 12 I have it running at ddr2 1000mhz 4 4 4 5 with 2.25 vcore
your one lucky sonofabitch aren't you Most people couldn't get that to 1000mhz with 4-4-4-12, and youhave a gtx and a tuniq tower, everything I ever wanted

Well actually its 4 4 4 5. Just had to add that! hehehe! yeah im lucky!
ocz platinum is a nice choice, but something that some others and I have found is that super talent is the real dime right now, people are getting it to go to speeds previously only achieveable with 1066 ram (some one got hit to over 1200mhz) and the timings are usually great because of the D9GKX IC
I still like my Buffalo Firestix, 4-4-4-12 @ 900 2.1V right now, can probably do a lot better didn't have all that much time lately to test it, yet for 240$ it's a good buy. Only thing is that I am unsure it is D9GMH afterall! gotta pop the spreader soon see whats under!
well, you could always come to detroit michigan, mug a random guy, blame it on some other guy and go buy the ram with that money (I live in Michigan and can telll you crime is very common in detroit)
And labby, that's not true, plenty of ram use D9MGH, but that is the only G.Skill that uses it except their 1066 4-4-4-5 ram. I believe this one uses D9GKX, because that is what my amazing super talent uses, and it has simular timings. If you can call the buffalo sticks a good deal, then what do you call super talent? Plenty of people have gotten a minum of 500mhz with stock 4-4-3-8 timings with 2.3 volts or less, and some got it above 1200 mhz. That's $250 ram we're talking about, pretty good deal if you ask me
I called Super Talent last week and spoke with a Rep... Although they still support the timings listed in the specs, the tech informed me they only Randomly use the Micron D9 chips for thier modules... About 20% of them.
no you don't understand, it will cost you $250, the amount in Canadian he would owe you would be over 300 CAD because the us economy is/was stronger and the USD is still worth more than the CAD
What I meant is that I thought the 'lowest' ram with the chip would be the HZ(with G.Skill product), I was actually saying that the price is a steal =)
Anyway I haven't seen many stick using GKX under 400$!
I guess, but I think that ocz platinum for only a bit more is the better deal
As for GKX micron chips, I know that for a while and still going on, Super Talent offers great GKX chips, but that is only for a short whiel, as they don't source only from Micron, but source from everywhere and it just happens that they picked up some highly binned ICs and sell it for a great price (though I think now that the price has dropped, they have switched off the GKX, judging by how a few of the reviews at newegg say it sucks now [yes, I know, never trust newegg reviews, but it still gives you the general idea of the quality most of the time-but not for zalman parts, beware of the hype 8O ])
I think buffalo does currently use GMH though
Edit: Guess not, my bad, just checked your link and looks like buffalo just stopped, maybe you got lucky though (but doesn't taking off the heatspreader void your warranty?)
About the buffalo, I bough mine before the shipment they have right now in December. I am very curious as to know if it has GMh or not. Some guy at XS reports pretty much the same performance as me and that his sticks don't use GMH =(
Haven't tryed pushing them further yet.
ABout the warranty, my sticker is not over the metal clip and there's no VOided warranty message but I still think I voided it already heh.
I removed the clips yesterday and scratched the spreader a bit so not that subtile .
I am trying to get some floss in between the thermal tape and the chips but it had'nt worked so great, so it's on hold right now
$270 aint cheap. Cheap Microns are becoming more and more of a myth, the top overcloking market will soon start moving to Hynix and probably Elpida so let love of the Micron love.
Those are either Promos or Hynix, they do up to 600Mhz but will keep their stability up to ~515Mhz, all under 2.5v

True, but a difference of only $10-20 USD and that and ocz are the only ram the site features for 2gb 6400, I think it was the best deal considering how much more the ocz was even though I think crucial is better
