After weeks of laborious review/forum reading, I have pretty much finalized my build list (my first). But I know I've been neglecting research for the optical drive.
What I'm looking for is a drive for a gaming system, that is DVD/CD read & burn capable. What im looking for is:
Performance (for gaming, above all else)
Reliabilty
Quiteness
Price
In that order. Gaming peformance mightily weighted :!:
I'm not opposed to getting 2 drives either, if thats better for any reason.
Please, I've just about exhausted my capacity for reseaching (and I still need to learn about OS installation and mobo overclocking :?) and I would *really* appreciate it if you all could just name a few good drives to pick from
I did start to research, by the way, Im not *that* lazy. But, damn, optical drives seem rather complicated and there are not many professional reviews out there.

320GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (ST3320620AS) Drive $94.99
NEC 18X DVD±R (7170A-0B) DVD $29.99
NEC 1.44 Floppy (if at all) $6.25
Artic Silver 5 $5.99
Plus these legacy parts:
BFG 6800GTS OC GPU (never been used)
BFG 550wt PSU (PT-6550NV) (never been used)
SB Audigy something or other soundcard
80GB IDE Drive
40GB IDE Drive
XP Pro OS
(still thinking about the vid card situation too, lol)
Really, any pointers in the right direction would be awesome.
