i've got an intel qx6700 and i plan to overclock it to 3Ghz or over. would it be a waste of money to buy corsair xms2 twin2x2048-8500c5d or twin2x2048-8888c4df.

found here: http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/products/guides/Buyersguide5.pdf

these two card are value at 1066MHz 5-5-5-15-2T
1111MHz 4-4-4-12-2T

from what i heard the more MHz, the faster it is. if it is a waste of money, what would you advise me to buy and what timing etc.

I have corsair memory my self (spec 216 Mhz, so it's 16 above normal 200...) The difference is not big, but it makes overclokking the prosessor a little bit easier. (I have TWINX2048-3500LLPRO and it was ower two times more expensive than normat 3200 model...)

IMHO it's newer worth of money to use extreme parts in your computer, but if you want the fastest possible go for the extreme!

That twin2x2048-8888c4df. seems to be very interesting beast indeed. Is it worth of all that money?
Definitely not, but nor is your qx6700 either :)

Buy the lowest Cas Latency of 667Mhz you can find.
Reason for this is that it will let you run very tight timings at ~3.5Ghz and it will let you run the FSB free after that

Your choice of MOBO will play into this somewhat. However, with the CPU you have chosen, rwareitsdario's advice of good low latency memory is a good idea. In addition to the 2 models you have listed, the PC6400C3DF Dominator is a good choice.
