I recently got HDTV receiver via my cable company -- Charter Communication.

So, here in upstate SC, I get a handful of channels, HBO, HBONet, Showtime,
ESPN, and a local channel. Not much. That comes in via the cable wire....

I'm wondering whether if I get an indoor antenna for OTA reception, and plug
that into the antenna in feed, will I be able to get some of the local
channels like fox, cbs, abc, WB, UPN in high def? If so, what antenna?

I went to a OTA system Satellite and had good luck with most of the OTA
stations. I was having problems with 2 of the stations. They would not
always be available.
The connection for OTA and satellite came over the same cable by using a
transceiver to split the signal.
I changed satellite from DirecTV to Dish and went to a single feed for the
OTA [the old dual feed] and a new feed for Dish. I now have zero problems
with the OTA.
I would suggest that 2 separate feeds be used especially if you have 2 1080i
inputs.

No, you won't. You'd need an OTA receiver for that. OTA uses a
different modulation scheme than cable does.

You have gotten some good info here on how to get local station info (via
titantv or antennaweb.ort). Where might you actually live? I might add
that avsforum has a number of threads for locals in SC that you might want
to peruse as well (specifically Western Carolina, Charlotte, Florence/MB,
Charleston, and Columbia). I personally visit and participate AVS as well
as this group; see
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/for [...] forumid=45 for a list of
the local forums (page through or do a simple search). Good luck!

Yes, I have since learned this. Thanks.
