Hi everyone. I'm looking to upgrade my CPU but first let me tell you what I have going.
1. ASUS P5N32-SLI Deluxe MOBO
2. Intel 3.2 D840 Smithfield CPU
3. 3 gigs DDR2 PC5300 MEM.
4. 2 EVGA E-GForce 8800 GTS running in SLI
5. Thermaltake Kandalf Case
6. Conventional Cooling
I know I could probably use some different memory and I think I'm limited to a Intel Extreme Edition CPU.
It seems for the price of the Extreme Edition for my MOBO that I should just change mobo's so I can use the Core 2 and still be money ahead. What do you think.
P.S. I hav'nt messed around with overclocking because it runs pretty fair without. Thanks

You would be right. Get a new mobo and Core 2 and save the rest of your system. Even with a good 680i mobo and an E6600, your around $600, still $400 less than a underperforming, overheating EE. Go Core 2 or those new cards will be bottlenecked, much more so than a Core 2 would.

The Extreme Edition is an overpriced piece of crap. There are CPU that can perform better at half the price. The "real" performance CPU is the Core 2 Extreme, the X6800.
