I am trying to access files over the network through drag/drop ("My Network Places", Windows file sharing, network neigbourhood, or whatever you call that) on a LAN Computer. the configuration is both computers are connected to the same switch/having the same subnet, firewalls are disabled.
the transfer of files of sizes up to ~30 MB works fine either way starting from either computer (either one computer get the files from the other or put the files to the other computer)
For files of ~600+ MB (I have no data on the sizes inbetween, so I have no idea where the cut-off is) I have problem getting files from the computer that has it. putting files of such sizes on either computer from the other computer seems fine
(so if I am working on computer A, I cannot access files of ~600+MB on Computer B, but I can put a file of that size to computer B;
if I am working on computer B, I cannot access files of ~600+MB that is shared on A, but I can put a file of such size to A)
Is it normal, a bug, or some part of configuration I have been missing?
I imagine that these files that you are trying to copy have been shared? Is the computer locking up at all when trying to transfer? Are you getting any messages??
my folder correctly lists all the files, and the transfer didn't start with the above message. the same folder has smaller files (~30 MB) that I have no problem doing drag-and-drop [as in dragging from the network folder to the local drive], so I suppose I have done the sharing correctly.
dragging bigger files (~400 MB) from the network folder to local drive gives me the above error message.
Same applies for renaming/attribute changing, etc. that I can only do it on smaller files (same error message for the larger ones.)
I reassure you I am using admin access and I have more than enough space to do that fifty times without getting it full
