So the original room I wanted my wifi router to be in has a wall that is too thick and the signal doesnt get to my computer!! eek... its so annoying. For now I will just move my computer into the room with the router.

But I want to get something so that I can use my computer in the other room. I was thinking either a signal booster (Hawking HSB2) or a high gain antenna. But I'm not sure which.

Drill a small hole and run a cable.

Signal booster requires you to have a signal to boost.

Highgain would be my pick.

My suggestion would be to either move the Router out of that room into another room that is closer to your computer. But, you can also just use cables instead :D

I have a difficult situation at a small business network I set up. The router is in a small closet at the far end of a 10,000 sq foot building. One of the computers is about 200' away at the opposite corner of the building. Besides the closet door/wall, the signal had to go through 4 other walls. I first tried the Hawking hi-gain directional antenna (claimed 15 db boost) mounted just outside the closet. That improved the signal, but it was still weak. I then added the Hawking amp. The combination did the trick, and I have a very good signal at the far end.

So, this equipment does work. I'd try the amp first. That seemed to make a bigger difference in my situation.
