W2K SP4 on a Dell Latitude D600
Standby is not working at all. However if VPN is active, the connection is
terminated when attempting to Standby. No other response from the machine.

Power Management settings verified to enter Standby on pressing main Power
button. Nothing initially seen in BIOS settings that could be contributing.
