[SOLVED] Connect external seagate harddrive to macs

Hello, i connected my seagate external harddrive to my mac osx all was well, i then switched the harddrive of before ejecting it from the mac osx. My mac is now not recognising the seagate and giving a message do not recognise item in usb port and asks me to ignor eject or initilize all of which have no effect. I have alot of data on the hard drive and do not want to erase it. Pleeeeese help

If you clicked on Initialise it would have tried to do just that, not a good idea if you need the data. Try Disk Utilities and Verify Disk (on both the drive and the volume), see what it says.
