I recently installed a second hard drive in my 2000 Desktop machince.
Sometimes when I boot up I can access the drive immediately. Other times I
can't see it (Explorer, My Computer) and have to run Install/Remove
Hardware in order for it to be detected and then remain available in
Explorer.
The drive is installed as a secondary drive. C Drive is primary/master, D
is the cd rom which is installed as slave of C. The troublesome hard drive
is installed as E.
Do I need to do something in bios for it to be detected all the time?

I had a problem that sounds like that when my powersupply wasn't putting out
enough juice to run all my devices... I know that sounds silly, but try like,
undoing some CDroms or something. ;-) Good luck!
