My first time trying the network thing.

I have 2 comps both xp pro, on a dgl-4100, I want to transfer files back and forth between computers. Also one computer has a usb printer, which i would like to print from the other computer.

I have different names for them and same workgroup but not working, so I will start all over from step 1 to step..... which I am hoping to find out here ;) preferably just using windows and no 3rd party programs, point form steps would be great.

Thanks a lot the help.

Register or log in to remove.

Just run the Network wizard in XP on both machines. Also make sure your printer and the files that you want to share are shared.

Have you tried logging in to both PCs with same username/password?

Sometimes it acts up. Try switching the workgroup name.

In XP pro turn off simple file sharing.

Are you using the shared folder or different ones?

Does you hd have a name or is it c:/ only?

Is the printer sharing working?

Check to make sure the firewall is set to allow local trafic.
This is where most of the problems arises from.
