I feel pretty stupid asking this, but I have this PCI modem Supra Diamond 56i or something like that and when I used to have windows Millennuim it always connected to a standard Dialup ISP with no problems no stoppages no nothing. Now before that I also used to have Win 2k and I was having constant problems with dialing up sometimes as soon as i press the dial button on the connection form the status is displayed as dialling... but there is no voice from the modem and after about 1-2 minutes the connection stops and says error 777 and something about the device not being connected properly. If i try to cancel this while it is locked up in dialling... status I can't open the dial up windows again until i restart. This problem persisted after a reinstall of Win 2k. Now I know i havent disabled the mdoem speaker because on other (rare) occasions the modem seem to be running fine it connects and doe not lag with noise and everything it could even be just after it has locked up. I tried disabling modem error control and flow control and some other features as well as modem speaker but it neither changes the amount or type of errors that I get still the same old 777 error. Could someone give me any clue to fixing this without using the words 'diamond','crap','buy' and 'new' in the same sentence :)

BTW Win2k is SP 2 and I intend to keep it that way

You may just have a bad driver, go to www.driverguide.com and youll prolly be able to find a new one... Cause if it works in ME, then if there is a driver for it the modem should work in 2000...

They should make a brand of clothing called Cisco Router and Switch... Yah, that beats the hell out of Ambercrombie and whatever...
