Hey.
I have just bought a firewire VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 firewire card. This is plug and play, reqireing no drivers. It didn't appear to be detected by windows, so i tried going to the Add new Hardware wizard and got that error.

Please help.

If you are using Windows 2000 or above, you don't need drivers and it should appear in device manager.
If it doesn't appear in device manager or if it appears with exclamation marks or other problems I would return it to the vendor and get another one.

try to reseat the card,
the golden pins should be fully seated in your PCI slot,
maybe you should try another PCI slot?
maybe IRQ problem?
