I recently upgraded form windows 2000 to windows XP (yes a brave decision! but the uni gave it to me for free )
Anyway I have a Netgear MA401 Wireless card. QAfter having some trouble with windows accepting the newest netgear drivers I managed to get the to install. However I was upset to see with netgear confuration utility doesnt load. I know windows XP apparently includes "wonderful wireless support" btu I love the way the utility allowed you to see the signal strength and such.
After seraching on the web I found other people had found problems with this card since Netgear claims Windows XP support but really it doesnt exist. Since the old drivers used a security loophole in windows XP. Then Microsoft released a security patch that stopped them from working.
Anyone else heard of these problems. How can i get the netgear 2.6 drivers to install? Or should I sell this card and buy a different netgear one?
Can anyone recommend a decent wireless card in which case. I like netgear and I have never had problems with their cards or access points or routers.
