Hi,
I have a Windows 2000 dell desktop with Office XP. It has been working fine
for three years. This morning I ran some Windows updates which downloaded
and installed about 10 updates. After rebooting I have had trouble with all
office products and quickbooks. Every time I try to print I get a message
saying the program needs to close. In Word it says Microsoft Word has
encountered a problem and needs to close. Same with Excel. I tried
ininstalling the updates but the PC was so slow that it took 10 minutes for
Word to open. Outlook would not open at all. I ran a registry fix tool
called registery mechanic which fixed about 30 errors but none that changed
my situation. I ran a norton scan but no threats were found.
I have since ininstalled office, reran the updates and reinstalled office
but the same thing happens. I was going to do a repair using my OS
installation disk but it is Service Pack 2 and I have have Service Pack 4. I
would have to uninstall the service packs in order to continue. Short of
reformatting, is there anything else I can do. It seems like these updates
corrupted something that I can't fix.
Thanks,
Chuck W
