ntbackup and free media pool

We have ntbackup running off a scheduled task so that is runs a backup
overnight without intervention by a user. It was working fine for a few weeks
and not half way through the backup we are receiving a message from the
Messenger Service which says:

Add "4mm DDS" media to the Free Media Pool or to media pool "\Backup\4mm DDS"

I have tried to use the Removable Storage MMC to use the Prepare function on
each tape but it says the Resources is already in use and won't allow me to
perform the function. I tried unallocating the tape first but it also didn't
work.

Does anyone know how i fix this problem?

You may have filed up the tape and it wants another prepared media.

I have enabled hardware compression which gives me 40GB and we dont have that
much data so i don't think it's cause we are filling up the tape.

If you are using "20/40" tapes you will probably only be
able to back up 30 - 34 GB at best. The 2x capacity is the
largest theoretical capacity and you will be lucky to
approach 1.7x.
