Just wondering if anybody has had to do anything "inventive" to fit a new 8800GTX in their case? When I bought an 8800GTX I had no idea how big it would be and I needed to get out some cutters and cut away part of the hard drive mounting cage to fit the bugger in. It was only the rear of the cage (holds up to 5 hard disks, had to snip out part of drive bay 3) so I can still populate the cage entirely without mounting problems. Just wondering if that caught out anybody else?

yes people have had issues as the 88gtx is a big card.

extremesys. has a link as to which cases will handle the 88gtx.

It's not the size that matters, it's how you use it. Never had that problem myself, but a hacksaw might help...ouch. 8O

EDIT: I can spell...even when drunk................................................................

Tins snips were just the right size. Cleaned up the edges. Cleaned out the box of debris and back in the game.

Yes, my TT Tsunami Dream had to feel the Dremel bite for a crescent cut on the HD cage.

Cool so I'm not the only one then. Thats what I was wondering.

Good to know. I have the same case. When I upgrade later this year I'll know to get metal cutters along with my gfx card purchase (namely the 8800gtx). Do you think the R600 will be as long?

Longer makes it faster right? :P

From what I know, yes. Since they fit in more things on the pcb.

I wish I had that kind of money to get an 88gtx :(

Yeah I know what you mean re: the money side of things. When I upgrade I generally make sure its going to last me a good few years. I always do plenty of research to make sure I know what I'm getting and what it can do. If I dont know then I ask on places like this.
