Occasionally, the mouse pointer either disappears, and comes back a minute
later, or it goes to the top left corner, and stays there. Buttons still
work on the computer. Ctl/Alt/Del offers no help. Freezing in the upper
left has happened twice in the past few days-- no unusual activity going on
in computer, CPU showing 0-3% usage. The rest of the time it works fine.
It's a wired mouse, connected properly.

The disks didn't come with this computer OEM already installed. Is there a
number to call, or a website?

Don't reinstall Windows, that won't solve the problem. The problem is that
the mouse drivers are either corrupt or the mouse itself is starting to have
problems. Simply unplug the mouse and boot your PC without it.
XP will come up with an error message that there is no mouse connected.
Cut the power of the PC (yes, pull the plug). Now connect the mouse again
and reboot. What you may want to try first is:
Start>Control Panel>Mouse>hardware tab>troubleshoot button.

The mouse connector may have worked loose. Be sure it is snug. If that
does not help, follow the instructions from Byte.
