Ok guys, I've got a mouse problem I haven't been able to figure out yet. I have a Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 USB mouse. It will mot select properly. It's just this mouse and I don't believe it's bad. Sometimes it's the greatest mouse I've had in my hand. Other times it won't pick sh-t.....
I have 2 older optical mice that work flawlessly..... The Intellimouse USB which is older, and the old Intellimouse w/InelliEye 1.0 both work without a problem.... The Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 USB mouse will not work consistently..
Remove the sticky note covering the LED sensor, or Format c: /u either should fix your (ok this) issue.
Ok i'll be helpful. Make sure the sensors are clean and free of debris both internal and external. Also and while you have the mouse open make sure all of the connectors are firmly connected. Also look for driver\software updates for these.

Stop drinking for a while and see if everything becomes clearer. If so, resume drinking, just stop complaining when things start going fuzzy.

To fix this issue you will need the following items.
1, Microwave oven.
2, 2x useless cds (Anything by Metallica will do)
Make a mouse sandwich from the cds and faulty mouse, using the cds as the bread. Place in the microwave oven and cook on full for thirty seconds. The cds will focus the microwave energy into a flattened sodomised wave resonance pattern, which will dislodge the debris from the sensors without causing harm to the rest of the components.
The Intellimouse USB is the oldest one I have. I don't know when I bougth it, but it was years ago. It still works fine, but no side buttons on it.
The Intellimouse w/InelliEye 1.0 is old as well. I bought that years ago because it had the side buttons for gaming. I've been using this one for at least 4 or 5 years. I'm running this one because I can't get the new one to work.
The Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 USB is the newest one and the one that doesn't work right. I've had it 3 years probably but have only ran it a few times. I hook it ujp and then get frustrated with the select not selecting so I go back to the old one with buttons on the side.
It just seems strange to me. I've never had a Intelli mouse go bad, even as old as my oldest one is. I've searched all over the place and can't find a fix for it. Sometimes when I plug it in and it works fine for awhile. Then it slowly gets harder to select the longer I run it
@ lvdax. I know the screws that hold the mouse together are under the 4 Teflon pads on the bottom. Are those pads glued in? Or do they come out and go back in? I'd take it apart if I knew that. I don't want to bestroy the thing trying to get a look inside of it. Any advice here would be helpful.
BTW I did 2 clean installs of XP yesterday, thinking something was wrong with the OS and the mouse. It didn't help anything with the mouse. It did make it boot like a raped ape again though.

Strange coincidence... the only mouse I had go dead on me, and I mean proper fcuked, was an Intellimouse Explorer. This is going back a few years now, to when I had my Athlon XP2100. It just gave up. It would illuminate, Windows would think everything was cushty, but the fcuker wouldn't move.
Ended up binning it for my old Intellimouse optical, much as you've done RC. I kept that for years, eventually replaced it with a Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 and never looked back. I was very sceptical about switching to a wireless mouse, but it's got the side buttons and all that jazz and works like a fcuking beauty. UT3, CoD4, Rainbow Six Vegas, never let me down once.
Worth thinking about mate.
Edited for swearing balls up.

I am going to pitch the dam thing Rob. I'll check into a wireless mouse, but I've always stayed wired for gaming. I have heard that wireless mice have come a long way though.
PF, you're the second person that's told me to get a G5. TT has one and loves it as well. He told me to go out and get one of them.
+1 to the G5, cheap and reliable. Hot switching of the dpi was alien to me at first but now i dont think i could game without it. Most definitly a preference option though, the main features would be its comfort (takes a bit of wearing in), and incredible accuracy.
Your mouse can't handle Crysis. It's time to upgrade to the latest Intel quadcore CPU. Should probably install at least 12GB of RAM while you're at it....just to be safe.

RC,
They are typically glued on with a light glue. You can typically superglue them back on after removing them. After reading the last thread, the mouse gets worse as it is used i would point to the mouse controller board going bad (inside the mouse). If its this then i would suggest you just buy the mouse again on ebay to save yourself time and patience.

RC,
your legs are typically glued on with a light glue. You can typically superglue them back on after removing them. After reading the last thread, if the legs get worse as they are used i would point to the toxic coors (inside the man). If its this, then i would suggest you not buy coors again to save yourself time and patience.

Well, Santa came early this year. I'm getting a whole new rig shipped in to build, but I haven't bought the G5 yet. LOL I'll have to go see if I can find the G5 before I get the new rig cranking.

So now that we've got this turned into a G5 topic, lets share the weights that we've shoved into the carrying tray.
To be honest, I didn't have the faintest clue as to what is optimal or not so I have thrown in 14.1 g (do the unit conversion yourself) and I'm pretty satisfied with it.
yeah no weights in mine either, i like a nice light mouse...
[/inadvertently started a g5 thread, lulz]

I went with the AMD 9600 Black. Putting it on the MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum. 4 gigs 2x2 gigs Corsair XMS 1066 RAM. Got to have a good vid card and I went a little pricey this time BFG Tech BFGEGTX260MC896OCE GeForce GTX 260 896MB. I've never had a vid card with above 512 RAM on it.
I also bought a new case the Antec Nine Hundred mid tower. My old case is 6 years old, has had a dozen systems in it, but I was tired of the USB on it. It didn't have the one connector, so I had to always sit there with the manual to get the USB going on the case. No more!
I've already have the 150 gig Raptor to go in it along with the Antec Neo Power 550
So that's what I'm putting under the G-5 mouse.
Being Xmas, I'm not sure how long it will take to get here. Shipping must be slow. Newegg says it's shipped, but I havent received any tracking numbers yet.

I take it you're installing the 64 bit version of your OS. That or you aren't going to see a lot of that ram. The OS will allocate at least 896 of the available address space just for the card, more for other stuff too.
No, I'm not going to run Vista. I'm loading my good ole XP Pro on it. I've got XP Pro 64 bit as well. Not sure which one I'll load.
As for the 4 gigs of RAM. I built one I sold with XP Home, 6000 dual core and 4 gigs of RAM last week. It showed 3. 46 gigs. However it ate programs alive. It beat my 2500 Oced to 3 gigs with 2 gigs of RAM and a Raptor to boot..... That's when I decided it was time to build again.
