USB eject causing crash to POST

Hi,

O.k., I'm out of ideas and hope someone on the forum can help. I have a
Win 2k box with the latest patches. When I try to eject my USB flash drive
using the "Unplug or Eject Hardware" wizard the system crashes to the POST
screen and then reboots. Also, the drive letter for the USB drive changes
between F: and G:, though it mainly is G:, plus if the drive is connected
during the boot process I get both drive letters for the same drive. This is
a recent behavior and I have not made any hardware/software changes to the
machine aside from doing Windows updates.

Are there any ideas on how to correct this?

Look in the event log to see if an error was recorded to help yourself out
more on this. Go to Control Panel > Administrative tools > Event Log.

Mike,

I looked this and it actually appears that the event log might be
corrupt. It states there are 2700 entires but no text is listed in the
viewer. I'm going to follow down this path and see what I can figure out.
