More Information

Hey all. I have been reading this site forever now, and always have been able to google my way through any problems, until now. So I'm gonna throw this out there, and see if anyone can figure it out.

I have the P965 Platinum, with an Intel D 930 dual core running on it. I currently have 1gb, single stick, of Corsair DDR2 667 in slot 1. I just bought the 1 stick to get the system up, figured would get better ram/dual channel later.

GFX wise, have the Nvidia 7900, 256 memory. Running XP Pro.

Now for the good part. I have RAID 0 running, on 2 Maxtor Diamondmax 74gb SATA 1 drives. These drives have been in 3 systems now, or should I say 3 updates, and have served me well.

Anyway, now with this new mobo, mem, cpu, gfx, etc, when I'm in windows, whether playing games or just running multiple apps, it seems the hard drive lite is always on, and the system get's sluggish. Anytime the system seems sluggish, I look down, and sure enough, that hd light is working overtime. Why is it reading the hd so much?

My first thought was maybe I had a drive going, so took them out of raid, and did some tests on them, but all looked good. I have had no read/write errors, no apps that went belly up because of bad info on the drives themselves. And like I said before, these drives ran flawlessly on every other system I put them on. I'm now wondering if it's the mobo.

Anyway, thought I would throw this out there and see if anyone had any insight on this. By the way, I did forget to mention 1 other piece of hardware in the system, it's a Soundblaster Audigy 2 Gamer sound card. Not that it makes any difference, but know people like posters to post complete setups.
