Ok, I just bought a ABIT AW8D MB for a system I am building. It has dual gigabit LAN! I am a bit networking challenged I admit, but what do I do with 2 of these things?!

I can hardly keep 1 net connection running!

I do work in graphics and 3D - so I might like to set-up a render farm with my old PCs. Can I have 2 independent networks on the same machine?

When I FTP and surf the net things get slower - can I combine these 2 ports into a SUPER network connection!?

Basic advise welcome.

It's just a feature. Why do we need a five blade razor that vibrates????

One company comes out with a network card on the mobo, next came two, next came gbit, next came TWO gbit NICs. Whatever.

You can use one to bring in the network connection, then bridge it to the other one so share internet to other computers. You would be a 1k$ router at that point LOL. I use mine more for troubleshooting bad cables and switches/routers.

Go fig.

If you get sophisticated enough, you can make both interfaces appear as one and implement high availability using virtualization, or some form of VRRP.
