I am upgrading an old workstation computer for video editing. Right now im in a dilemma. I need a new video card, either a new workstation card or gaming card for about $200, But I dont know what to choose. I need the card for premiere pro 2.0 which utilizes the GPU for rendering transitions.
Premiere Pro doesn't need a fancy workstation driver, it doesn't care.
A good, cheap $120 X1650 PRO or 7600 GT should provide all the 3d acceleration Premiere PRO needs, from my experience.
I use it all the time, although I must admit I'vew never actually benchmarked different cards with it. But I've never seen any performance difference between 3d / workstation cards with it.
