It is fine to run with only the 4 pin connector in. Your manual will tell you the same. That should have nothing to do with your game issue though. PSU may be a problem, though you didn't mention which graphics card you are using.

I suggest a driver removal and running Driver Cleaner and reintalling video drivers. Check temps on your GPU as they may be running too high, but that shouldnt cause a reset, usually just artifacting or game crashing.

Did the motherboard not have a cap over the bottom half of the 8 pin slot? That is there to make sure you know you can use only a 4 pin connector if needed.

Slow loading of Windows could be part of the same driver issue. 19 seconds is normal for an E6600. I still suggest a complete uninstall, cleaning and reinstallation of drivers.

Nope, oh well, lucky guess. I just did the driver cleaner thing and everything seems fine, put the cpu to 2.5 and ram to 850 or something, i'll probably try and get it to a stable 3ghz, memory to 900.

Problem is, my boot screen is still unbelievably slow, maybe 20-25 bars go past..

You aren't running in a 1:1 ratio?
