I have resource problems with my system. I usually boot with only 60-70% free resources each time. Does anybody know how I can configure it so I'm over 90%? I have run msconfig and have taken off everything except the essentials.

System Resources are a constant no matter how much RAM you have. It's a limitation of Windows ME.

Windows 98SE has the same limitation. In fact, all the Windows 9x family has the same limitaiton. Get Windows 2000!

i don't have any graphics program starting up. everything i have starting up just adds itself back on my startup list if i take it off. even in safe mode i boot up with only 79% free. i'm baffled

I don't agree with that. I've always had at least 85% free. I currently have 89%.

Granted I don't run fifty programs all at once, but right now I have about seven open.
