which type of amd cpu i am getting? venice or newcastle?

Ok i want to buy 3800+ athlon 64 and I happen to find out that venice is better than newcastle. now i cant find out how to tell which one am i getting or this is just a lucky draw out of 52 cards :)

tried to find an identification method by using the mfg # but not successful yet.

any idea????

Apparently they do.

ok by accident i found a site which sell same thing but they have venice. I think i will buy from them.

oh and its ncix selling them.

Yea if you can get a venice then get that over a newcastle or winchester. I would have bought a venice core had they been out when I built my system. When I built mine the winchesters were just first coming out pretty much.

You got a pretty decent OC out of your Winchester, nothing wrong with it.

yeah they made 3800+ newcastle. I have one sitting in my closet, took it out of action after i got my x2 4400. they oc weak IMO. if you can get a venice get that, but if your buying a new cpu, why not get an x2 3800+ well worth the few extra bucks.

unless it is used I would be surprised if it were a newcastle core. And yes want a venice if nothing else it has SSE3 instructions and is a better overclocker.
