I have problem which sounds exactly like this the issue resolved here:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/298045-33-5770-bios-update-solves-overheating-problem

However.. i dont have the same machine. I have a dell 17r. before checking out other potential solutions to my overheating issue, i would like to give the bios update a shot. Could any one tell me if this BIOS would work on the 17r? if not, can you help me out as to which i need?

Thanks for your help!

i didnt say it was a sound issue, but i said it "sounds like the [linked] issue" Thanks very much for the reply. I searched around and updated the bios for my model. It seems to have worked somewhat. now it does run the programmes better, but still after some active time, it starts to heat up and slow down.

Thanks for the response!

I checked out speed fan.

I went into the configure tab, and then to the fan tab. Under which it had nothing listed?

Has this perhaps found my problem??

It would definately seem as though fan(s) are working ok. I dont know how many there are though. Through one of the fans i can feel coolish air being forced.
