Which ATI card would be a good balance in price and performance on a $100-$200 for a video editing station. I'll be uploading from a camcorder to PC to DVD. It's for a music and multimedia class so money is an object. Thanks.

Thanks i'll look into that, but what kinda you know a PRO or XT or whatnot? Would extra on card memory help in anyway. Also does anyone else have any suggestions ATI or Nvidia built?

More memory or a faster card will do nothing for editing or a DVD conversion.

The work you are talking about is done on the CPU and platform, not the video card.

Even an X1300 might be overkill for you. You can really get the cheapest card you can find if you don't play any 3d games, just make sure it isn't a 'Turbocache' or 'Hypermemory' card... those will bleed memory from your main RAM.

I'd add that the only other consideration is whether he's going to VISTA or not. If he is I'd say don't get anything less than an X1300 with 256MB, although that's not about the transfer editing portion, just VISTA in general.
