We're at zero this morning heading to a high of 10. The converter I used said 0f = -17.8c....
However you say it, it's cold in the Mitten!!!!
Fcukin' hell that's good weather. Can Coors freeze?
Oh yes Coors can freeze!!!!
When I ran my sled, you couldn't keep the Coors in the trunk because they would freeze plus get too shook up to drink.. We had a thing you could put 6 Coors end to end and wear it under your jacket to keep from freezing. We wore them like ammo belts for the breaks on the trail.....
I can only visualize that. What's the wind chill factor for 0F there by you? We reach 0C to -5C here. The wind chill makes it -10C which is still a bit off from your -17.8C.
Here's the weather report for Chicago.

Yes, that's a HIGH TEMP of -3 tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to it, that's for sure.
And per Google:
(-17) degrees Fahrenheit = -27.2222222 degrees Celsius
It can go as low as -20s (-28.8c) to -30s (-34.4c).
Currently its -3 wind chill.
I've been out on my sled in the UP with it -26 (-32.2c) without wind chill. Belts were froze on the sleds. we had to take them into the cafe to let them thaw out to ride that morning...... I ended up rolling my sled, taking the wind shield off. I got frost bite on my chin that day because of it.....
Humidity plays a big factor. We get below 40% during our cold periods.
We're going to be -1 for a high tomorrow. Kids school is delayed 2 hours this morning, maybe they won't have school tomorrow. They're talking like -17 as well.
You know the old saying, "colder than a witches tit in a brass bra"
wow i just looked at the weather channel, today it is supposed to be 57(high) today and 42 tomorrow.
have fun up there guys...
Yeah. Thanks...
That's OK..... Go ahead on then....
Wait until summer, when we have those beautiful 70 degree days, and your sweating you balls in the heat and humidity down there.....
NYC should be hitting 17 degrees as a high by Friday.
Even the Naked Cowboy is wearing thermals!
I won't even brag about our weather right now... ok i will...
Enjoy California
yeah but you live in cali, if the price to pay was living in cali for that weather, i would choose michigan...
Meh.. We have better Football (american) teams in Cali.
bs....
SEC all the way baby...
OK better college teams. USC!!!!!
Shouldn't you pricks be in the ocean by now? I keep waiting for "the big one" and everyday you pricks are still there. I'm suing.
Say all you want about La La Land.....
My brother lives in Aliso Veijo and it's dam cold there both last winter and this.... They can't keep their house warm with the sub standard furnaces they install out there..... [shrug]
As a matter of fact, one of our neighbors was born and raised in Orange County... They moved to MI, 1. Because they knew they would never be able to buy a home in CA, let alone the 3500 sq. ft. place they bought here. 2. Neighbors that will lend them anything to them or keep their place up when they're gone. I personally blew out their drive while they were in CA for Xmas. 3. They can't believe how cheap things are here and how friendly people are. 4. I give them tomatoes and all kinds of goodies that I grow in my garden. (I really would like to think they moved here just for that)!
Yea, my CA neighbors that I the "Cali People" are fun to have around as well. Normal things we do around here baffled them at first. Things like having a acre lawn that needs mowing twice a week when it starts growing. Snow and bitter cold in the winter as well. They've bucked up and are real Michiganders now after their 4th year here. U of M is their football team now, forget the Lions.....
These people also started one of the best traditions in the neighborhood that I really enjoy, they throw a New Years party for the neighbors every year. All of us attend and have a great time at their place. I look forward to their party every year now. Wouldn't miss it for the world!!!
These are educated people as well. Kerry is a Clinical Research Scientist and Darrin is a Physical Therapist. Great additions to the Hood!!! Oh and they always bring me back Avocados off her father's tree in CA when they go out there. I can't grow them here for sure. Their folks always come to MI in Aug. when the gardens and crops are in full production just to eat the bounty of MI......
*steps off soap box*
Here's what we have this morning so far. It usually gets colder just before the dawn... High of 8 today with wind chill -20 today.

I did get my cable for the snow thrower. That's right the manual says snow thrower. Haven't installed it yet though. The 2 inches we got yesterday was sugar snow. I blew that out with my leaf blower.....
-9°F
Feels like -26°F
Bitterly cold. Abundant sunshine. Dangerous wind chills as low as -30F. High -2F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph.
Where did you get that forcast RC? What site?

RC, all the stuff you say is what we get in NJ, only more of it where you are.
The only reason that it is less desirable is the cost (which is up because it is MORE desirable, go fig). A lot of the popular areas are ones with some historic zones, or close to the city or the ocean.
I also see a blend of what you are talking about. Neighbors you can call over to feed your cats while you are away, or give your lawn a mow (a few $$ is always a good encouragement, sometimes refused).
Gardens are also plentiful, and the iron in the soil makes some great tomatoes.
The only thing I miss in the 'burbs (I am now in Hoboken, a pretty developed brownstone community just outside of NYC) is accessability.
Right now I walk out my door and I am 5 minutes away from a dozen bars, restaurants and such. I can go to Shop Rite on foot, or hop across the street to the Korean Grocery or Laundromat/dry cleaner. There are plenty of smaller parks around (but unfortunately not many athletic fields) and the daily commute to work is pretty short (40 min).
I use my car, but don't NEED it (about 3K miles a year!!!).
The best places to live are probably something that give a bit of that, while still giving the familiarity and community you talk about. Be able to walk home from the corner pub, but not be an almost complete stranger to the people that hear you banging your woman at night.

I heard they were thinking about actually putting alcohol in Coors to keep it from freezing...
I guess urine wasn't as high in saline content as they thought it was.
Anoob.... If only it was as high-test as pure piss.
There is a reason they call it pisswater.
@Ninjahedge
I've traveled around the world and was gone 3 years during the service, so I know about the living you talk about. Nothing wrong with it, if your into it.
I picked a spot in between the town I grew up in and the capital city, they're 10 miles apart. I'm in a township with about half the taxes of either city. I have everything with in a 20 mi. radius around me. I've got enough ground to grow a great garden that I can up every year. I try to live as close to the garden as I can and that's the way I was raised. I love it here and being as the place is near paid off, I'm not about to go anywhere else.
Having said that, it's not for everybody. Both my brothers left for better places they said. One of them went to Denver, lived there for 20 years. Then he got a better job in Lincoln, NE. He hated NE, but that's where he died and part of my family is there. My youngest brother lives in Orange County, CA and has for 20 years. Part of my family is there and they aren't coming back. My mother sold out and moved to Naples, FL. The long and the short of it, myself and my two sons and our famlies are the only ones left in MI from my whole family......
@Clown.... Coors is 6% as always...
Unless it is the three two crap sold in a few Bible Belt states.

You really shafted your sons. Its time to kick your kids out of Michigan... Give them a fancy beer like Bud Light, show them that there really are better places than Michigan.
Post because I'm from MN and it gets cold here...and to see when I registered sicne I can't find it any other way
First post in a couple years FTW!
