I will be deploying a 2nd DC at a remote location and would like to sync
certain shared folders between the 2 sites over a VPN. I know Windows can
do it but I can't seem to find the info. If someone can point me in the
direction I would appreciate it.

TIA

Hi John,

Thanks for posting!

I understand that you want to deploy a 2nd DC at a remote location and
would like to synchronize shared folder on between two sites over VPN. If I
have misunderstood your concerns, please feel free to let me know.

Based on my experience, I would like to suggest you Install Distributed
File System (DFS) and use File Replication Service (FRS) to replicate DFS
content. FRS can replicate content between Windows 2000 servers hosting the
same fault-tolerant Distributed File System (DFS) roots or child-node
replicas. Unlike Active Directory replication, FRS-replicated content
between sites is not compressed. For more detailed information, please
refer to the following article:

Hope the information helps. If there is anything that is unclear, please

Have a nice day!

Thanks & Regards,
