I have no where else to go! Google failed me. And so did my computer software engineer father.

Ok. After I installed my new X-Fi soundcard, I noticed that my CPU Process usage was spiking to 70% percent randomly and frequently. This causes my computer to complete freeze for about half a second. Very annoying.

Anyways, after seeing what the process was, I learned it was a driver... I think... Not to sure what DCPs are. Anyways... after a lot of experimenting, I finally learned it had to do with my wireless connection. After I disable my wireless, my computer runs smooth and fast. When I reinable it, the spiking and freezing starts up again. Here is a screenshot of the god forsaken spikes.

See the DCP at the top left taking up 76% of the CPU? Well, each of those spikes is that.

Now. I also noticed that my connection is dropping randomly. Windows doesn't say is. The connection is seemed like it was extremely slow at first, but then I noticed that the connection was just dropping randomly.

Well, I have a theory that my new X-Fi card is causing the problem.
I have the ASUS A8N-E motherboard and the X-Fi card and the wireless card may be causing interupts.. I really don't know how to check this or fix this... so if you think it is this, or the wireless card, or anything. Please let me know!

BTW, I have an airbus wireless card.

Well, the simple solution would be to take out the wireless card and see if the problem goes away. Run a cable if you can to see if the problem still exists while the PC is hardwired. If it does then you know it's not the wireless. If it doesn't then get a new wireless card.

If I take the wireless card out, the problem goes away.
If I take the sound card out, the problem goes away.

I guessed that it is a problem with the motherboard.

I made a different topic on another board, but if anyone here has any tips, please! let me know!

It may be an issue of interupt sharing. Check the device manager to see if the 2 devices are using the same IRQ.

There might be issues with the X-Fi and your ASUS board too.
