I have an ASUS P5WD2 Mobo with the 955X Chipset, am I able to put a Core 2 Duo Processor and possibly a quad core processor in it. I have been getting pretty confused with all the different chipsets out there now.

I fear that you and I may be SOL with the whole C2D thing.

I got an Intel D955XBK just before they announced their 975 chipset. I have yet to see anything claiming it supports a Core 2 Duo, but plenty of info to suggest it does not.

If anyone knows differently, please post. I'd be very happy to learn that I could swap out my 50,000 BTU Pentium D for a C2D, but I don't think it's going to be possible.

p.s. if anyone at Intel is listening, please consider!! Upgrading the MoBo is not an option at this point, unfortunately.

Nope the 955XBX does NOT support C2D, and only the newer revised 975XBX supports C2D.

SOL as he put it
