I have an HP Pavilion dv1000 with an Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG card and on Windows XP wireless is horrible. Browsing the internet i get from half to less than half of my rated speed and on the network files transfer at about 1.5-2 MB/s. On Vista on the other hand, internet browsing is perfect (i can browse at my rated speed) and network works at about 3 MB/s. I tried using the drivers from Vista on XP but after what looked like a successful installation, the driver didn't change (since the version and build numbers remained the same). Anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks a bunch!
Did you try checking Intel's site to see if there is an updated XP driver? If you're using the one that HP supplied, it's probably quite a few versions out of date. You could also try sending a support request to Intel.
