I clicked on the auto-hide taskbar button and it works great, but when I
recieve a message from yahoo messenger, it brings the taskbar back up. I
don't want it to do that, can I do something so that it won't??

I believe that is by design. Open applications go to the taskbar. Yahoo
Messenger opens in order to receive a message and I assume this is a part of
its alert protocol.
