problem in 320 sata hard drive

hello,
i changed my laptop 320 GB sata hard drive .and the old sata hard drive is using as external hard drive with some changes like casing the hard drive and now my laptop read the old hard drive and data is also copying but when i start to play some movie or data it shows the drive not responding and after 2-3 minutes the window closes automatically.so plz let me know about how to fix this problem.

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.
Note down the drive letter of the external drive then op-en Command window and at the Command Prompt, type chkdsk x: /r then press Enter (where X is the drive letter).
The /r switch will attempt to find and fix any disk errors. How much memory (RAM) does your laptop have? Maybe screening a movie and running an external disk at the same time is too much for it.
