memory voltage

Hi, could someone please explain to me why the voltages on the RAM are important? Does it have to be compatible with your motherboard? And how do you find out if your RAM is compatible with your motherboard?
Here are the list of RAM I'm thinking of getting..
1. CORSAIR XMS2 2x1GB 1.9V - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1682...
2. CORSAIR XMS2 2x!GB 2.1V - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1682...
3. OCZ Platinum 2x1GB 2.8V - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1682...
As you can see the first one is 1.9V, the second is 2.1V, the third is 2.8V. I'm having trouble finding a RAM that can support 2.1V..

The BIOSTAR TForce965PT supports only DDR2 240pin memory. The third memory that you listed is DDR PC3200 (OCZ Platinum 2x1GB 2.8V) which is not compatible with your board.
I would pick a different motherboard (Asus, Gigabyte, Abit). How about this one.

The first two memories that you listed will work with this motherboard P5N-E SLI.
