Greetings,

After doing research here, I recently purchased a new C2D machine...

E6300 (stock hs/fan)
2g DDR667 Patriot ram
Maxtor 300g SATA-II
eVGA 7950 GT 512mg PCI-E

I've got a couple of questions tho....

I got a copy of Prime95 to use for burn-in/torture testing.....

1) After settting it up to max out both cores for 5hrs I got no errors or warnings. Good enough for burn-in testing?

2) During the entire test, TAT recorded 83c max temp from both cores. CoreTemp says my TJunction is 85c. For running that hard and that long, is that an issue? I also ran EverQuest II for several hours with no errors as well.

Thanks in advance

What Jack sez....and I'll add that, if you are using the stock HSF or a HSF that uses the Intel mounting mechanism that all four fastners are secure. They have a tendancy to pop up at times and what you're seeing temp wise is very typical with a HSF that's not 100% seated....

I took the advice and went to Fry's this morning and got a Thermatake Silent 775, another 180mm case fan, and some Arctic Silver 5.

It seems that the intel hs/f wouldn't stay attached.

I installed the new stuff and re-ran Prime 95....and only got up to 55c.

Thanks much for everyones help.
