I'd like to request some information, perhaps even a review, on two newlly arrived motherboards: ABIT AB9 QuadGT and ASUS Commando. I'd like some information covering these items:
- Overclockability (obviously)
- Ability to run Crossfire (these new boards come with 2 PCI-E x16)
- Multiplier adjustments (ABIT unlocked this feature on AB9 Pro with a BIOS update, and ASUS P5B Series is one of the few to also support this, but what about this boards?)
Actually, I'm inclined towards ASUS Commando, because I have numerous PCI 2.2 cards, however, AB9 proved to have better overclocking potential then the P5B Series...
Greetings. Actually I ordered my Commando yesterday. Here's A link for specs and one for the OC'ing ability. From all that I have found it seems to be an easy OC. The Asus board does indeed support crossfire.
the abit also supports Crossfire but both boards only do so with 1 slot running x16 electrically & the other at x4 electrically.
This has a negative effect on performance compared to the x8+x8 of 975 boards - Anandtech did an article on it.
The abit is so new that I haven't seen any user feedback yet & the Commando isn't much better.
