I like mine with the exception that it doesn't have 2 dedicated pci-e connectors. You have to join several 4 pins together to get your 2nd one.
Since I'm only using one card now, it's not much of a factor yet.
I got the chrome one with the red uv cables at xoxide.com

Mpilch:

The PSU you have (Hiper 580W) is one of two options that i have narrowed down for my new PC, i'm in England and there is roughly £40 ($80 bucks) between the pair.

Would you be comfortable SLI'ing on that PSU? i'll be running a E6300, 2GIG Corsair XMS2, 250gig SATA, a few case fans, usual drives, nothing major.

I'll be getting a SLI Mobo (Asus 650i) to go with it, i'll probably however put a 1950PRO in until DX10 becomes affordable AND fully utilised (maybe 6-7 months?), and then only when necessary for high end eye candy gaming go DX 10 SLI.

My other option is this.

I think the Hiper will do the job until i go DX10 SLI at least, not sure about further though, but i'm almost convinced the Tagan with it's 56A across he 12, would power any system i'm likely to have for 3 years+ no worries.

Not sure whether too go the whole hog now, even though the Tagan is somewhat overkill and be done with it, or get the Hiper now and save the money.

Thanks.

They are my only two choices left mpilch.

I had a choice of around 8, 3 of which are way too expensive and total overkill, a standard case PSU (GAG!!!) and 2 options round about the Hiper mark.

The others were.

A Tagan 500W dual engine. (SLI)

Enermax noisetaker 600W (SLI)

And then the 700W Tagan i mentioned. Budget is around £110 at most.

Sadly the Antec Trio 550W (42A) i wanted in no longer an option.

Does SLI'ing or X-firing cards mean just DOUBLING the ampage needed as one would assume?

Not planning to OC, not for a good while anyway, i shouldn't need too. It's my instinct to give myself room to play with with a PSU though.

Funny you mentioned the 7900GS earlier as SLI'ing those are in the back of my mind.

I think out of the PSU's i narrowed it down too, it seems to come down to whether i want spend another £40 now or probably £90-£100 in 18 months time.

Would you run a single 8800GTX on the Hiper pilch?

I thought a single 8800GTX would be pushing it on the Hiper. More to chew on!

How do you calculate the amperage over the 12V rails?

Is it max wattage over the 12V divide by 12?

Oh by the way, is the Hiper nice and quiet?

you might also want to think about getting a CoolerMaster 850W RealPowerPro Quad. It maxes out at 1000W and has six 12v rails. I've had mine for over a month, and its great,! Its also one of the few that has all the cables sleeved right to the end. Even the HDD cables. It weighs in at 8Lbs and is close to 1 1/2 inches longer than my Ultra Xfinity 600w.Its built extreamly well.
