Hi I live in Australia and would like to buy a computer as a gift for someone in Canada (British Columbia).

My preference is a store in BC which has online facilities and delivery. This is to minimize delivery charges and having to deal with customs/taxes on imports and so forth. I've been searching for a while to no avail and the problems I'm having are as follows.

Most require you to sign up to their online store with Canadian details. In some cases I might be able to put in a fake address but that might have ramifications for the billing/shipping address. Which brings me to another problem where the billing address will definitely be different to the shipping address. This will probably involve me putting an alternate address on my credit card (so that the online store can process the transaction due to fraud concerns) but will probably have problems if I'm trying to put an international address. And lastly a lot of the stores will only accept credit cards issued in Canada.

So what I'm really after is a local Canadian computer store with online facilities where I can sign up internationally and pay with an international credit card and then ship it to a BC address as a gift which will be different to the credit card billing address. Or maybe there is another alternative (like a store in the US) which may solve my dilemma.

Try Newegg - Canada.

Also, credit card companies like to be informed hat the credit card will be used for international purchases. I do this when I go overseas for personal expenses.

i've got the same issue
I'm living in the UK, and would like to order a PC for a friend in Ontario

Me: is there any way i could do this from newegg ?
newegg.ca CS: I would be glad to help you with that, but unfortunately, we don't accept international orders and international payment method.
Me: i believe that you accept paypal and visa
newegg.ca CS: Yes, we accept Visa and Paypal.
Me: for delivery in canada ?
newegg.ca CS: Order must be placed in Canada and on newegg.ca

all i want to do is buy a cheap PC to have delivered to a good friend, and i'm getting huge problems ordering it

^ It is because of issues with Customs and Excise. That is why Newegg (and other US companies) will not accept these types of orders. Besides they are few and far between.
